US Midterms, Biden Presidency, Trump 2024 Bid Explored at Latest Global Outlook Event

On 11th of October, in the framework of the Global Outlook Series, we explored the upcoming US midterms and the 2024 Presidential Election with special guest Jon Decker, White House Correspondent and Senior National Editor of the Gray Television.

At the first part of his presentation, Mr. Decker talked about how Congress works and explained the specific features of the American election system. Afterward, he explained the audience the importance of the midterms and its potential impact on the second half of Joe Biden's presidency, highligting the importance of swing states such as Michigan, Nevada, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin, and the economic performance of the US as a special determining power within the elections.

In the second part of the event, AmCham SVP dr. Dávid Kőhegyi, Local Partner, Head of Compliance and Investigations at DLA Piper Hungary asked Mr. Decker about voter behaviour, issues dividing the two sides and the bipartisan support for Ukraine.

Looking into the 2024 Presidential Election, the discussion turned to the intentions of former President Donald Trump influence and his potential challengers within the GOP. Our speakers also pondered if there is any chance President Biden is not running in 2024 and in that case, who could lead the party.

AmCham would like to thank DLA Piper Hungary for supporting the event.
