On January 15, our Regulatory Committee held an open meeting dedicated to competition law.
The session was led by dr. Dániel Arányi, Partner and Head of the Competition & EU team, and dr. Gábor Kutai, Senior Associate in the Competition & EU team at Bird & Bird, who provided a comprehensive overview and shared practical insights, including the key principles applying to trade associations and companies under EU and Hungarian competition law.

The discussion covered, among others
• potential sanctions and enforcement risks
• agreements restricting competition and key warning signs
• horizontal agreements between competitors
• vertical agreements with suppliers and customers
• dawn raids, including how to prepare, practical tips and strategies
The speakers warned that even one prohibited exchange of information can be considered a violation of competition law. They also emphasized the importance of having a robust competition compliance program and a clear dawn raid policy in place.
The session closed with a Q&A and a lively discussion.
