AmCham Hungary, in collaboration with ROSI-SYSTEMS, hosted a seminar on February 11, focusing on data center sustainability and the impact of EU regulations. Guest speakers Ferenc Kiss, Business Development Manager at ROSI Systems, and Julian Riley, Regional Sales Director & General Manager EMEA at Chatsworth Products International (CPI), discussed the latest trends, regulatory challenges, and innovative strategies shaping the future of data centers.
With electricity consumption in data centers projected to rise significantly - potentially reaching 30% instead of the EU’s targeted 3.2% without action—businesses must improve efficiency and comply with stricter regulations.
New EU rules will require data centers over 500 kW to optimize cooling, reduce IT energy use, and integrate renewable energy sources to mitigate environmental impact.
ROSI Systems, which specializes in designing and upgrading data centers, emphasized the importance of aligning infrastructure with EU’s 2024 regulations to ensure compliance and long-term sustainability.
Experts highlighted best practices such as reducing energy consumption, optimizing power distribution, improving cooling efficiency, and leveraging renewable energy sources like wind and solar. Data Center Infrastructure Management (DCIM) was also discussed as a key tool for monitoring and optimizing power, cooling, and space to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.
