She received a Gold Diploma from the prestigious Semmelweis University in Budapest, honoring her 50 years in medical practice. We are pleased to share her remarkable story, which exemplifies her passion for pediatrics and dedication to improving children's health.
Finding Joy in Pediatrics
Veronika has mixed feelings about receiving this commemorative certificate. On the one hand, she feels immense joy for dedicating so many years to pediatrics, a field she holds dear. On the other hand, she realizes how swiftly five decades have passed and how dramatically technology and healthcare have advanced.
Dr. Veronika Boros is proud to have been involved with FirstMed's evolution into one of Budapest's leading English-speaking private clinics. She believes that applying innovative technology in healthcare can advance patient care.
Crafting a Medical Career
Dr. Boros started her medical career in 1973 at Szent János Hospital after finishing her studies at Semmelweis University in Budapest. Initially working in pulmonary medicine, she eventually found her true calling in pediatrics.
A scholarship opportunity took her to the University of Alberta, Canada, where she researched bronchopulmonary dysplasia (BPD), a chronic lung disease. Despite chilly winters, her colleagues' warmth made her time there a cherished memory.
Returning to János Hospital in 1995, she took on the responsibility of the pediatric department's chief physician, where she served until her retirement in 2011.
FirstMed's Caring Pediatrician
Shortly after opening in 1999, Dr. Veronika Boros joined FirstMed part-time as a pediatrician. Post-retirement, she dedicated her full attention to our clinic, bringing flexibility to her schedule and being available for patients at various times throughout the week.
She also enjoyed working as a school doctor at the British School between 2019 and 2020. Post-pandemic, she decided to focus solely on FirstMed and continue her journey here with us.

When asked what has kept her at FirstMed for so many years, memories of the camaraderie and team spirit from her days in Canada come rushing back. During her career, the more significant gap between private and public healthcare systems made her value FirstMed's dedication to top-notch, comprehensive care. She appreciates having the time and resources to give maximum attention and care to her little patients and keeping the parents well-informed.
Beyond the Clinic
When not in the clinic, Veronika pursues her hobby of playing bridge, competes in the amateur category, and cherishes adrenaline-fueled activities. She also embraced the thrill of skiing for 30 years, which she had to stop, but her passion for prompt action in urgent medical settings has not diminished.
Through it all, her resilient spirit shines through. Embracing change, facing challenges head-on, and surrounding herself with positive, friendly individuals - Dr. Veronika Boros brings warmth and expertise to our clinic.
