On June 13, AmCham organized the second session of its ESG Seminar Series, focusing on Directives and Reporting. Experts from Baker McKenzie explored the evolving ESG regulatory landscape and its implications for Hungary.
Dominik Csáscsu presented the EU’s Omnibus Simplification Package (CSRD, SFDR, CS3D) and its expected impact on Hungarian legislation, emphasizing upcoming compliance obligations.
József Vági discussed ESG regulation in the financial and banking sector, highlighting the role of the EU Taxonomy, evolving market standards, and recent proposals from the Loan Market Association (LMA) to support best practices and standard documentation in sustainable finance.
Benedek Kovács addressed ESG trends in real estate, noting that Hungary does not yet have detailed regulations on green certification. On the other hand, market demand already exceeds regulatory requirements. In response, landlords increasingly rely on international green certifications commonly used in other EU countries.
