Energy Policy Forum with Attila Holoda - Navigating Hungary's Energy Transition
The Energy Policy Forum, hosted by the Sustainable Growth Committee, met to tackle topics on energy security, diversification, and competitiveness.
On Wednesday, June 3, the Sustainable Growth Committee hosted an Energy Policy Forum with Attila Holoda, energy expert and Managing Director of Aurora Energy, at KOSTAL's office in Budapest.
The forum explored how Hungary's energy transition is being shaped by ongoing geopolitical tensions and the need to reduce exposure to single-source dependencies. Mr. Holoda addressed the evolution of Hungary's energy mix, opportunities to decrease reliance on Russian energy sources, and how current international developments, including U.S. – European energy cooperation, may influence the country's energy security and policy flexibility. He also highlighted the importance of strengthening critical infrastructure and approaching the growth of renewables with a strong focus on grid stability, storage, long-term supply security, alongside the practical challenges diversification poses for companies operating in Hungary in terms of costs, regulation, investment, and supply chains.
The presentation was followed by a Q&A session, moderated by József Bőhm, AmCham's Sustainable Growth Committee Chair and Global Head of Sustainability at KOSTAL Group.
Many thanks to Attila Holoda for the insightful presentation, and to Péter Csucska and József Bőhm for hosting us at KOSTAL's office.
