Economic and Political Outlook After the Elections

Following Hungary’s April 12 general elections, many questions have emerged about what lies ahead in the coming period. On April 15, Orsolya Ráczová, Central and Eastern Europe Lead Analyst at Eurasia Group, delivered an expert talk on Hungary’s outlook, presenting the methodology behind their forecast, which had accurately predicted the election result, even if the prospect of a constitutional majority remained uncertain until the final days.

Looking ahead, she highlighted that economic policy is likely to come into stronger focus, including Tisza’s stated priorities around competitiveness, support for SMEs, and research and development, while addressing rule of law concerns and unlocking Hungary’s EU cohesion funds will also be a key task for the next government. The presentation was followed by a lively discussion with participants.
