Csodalámpa Foundation: Support the Foundation with 1% of your tax

The mission of the 21-year-old Csodalámpa (Magic Lamp) Foundation is to fulfil a dream of any child suffering from a life-threatening illness.

Since the start of our activities in 2003 we granted wishes of more than 4900 ill children, all over Hungary with the help of our nationwide 200 strong volunteer network.

Our goal is to make the children forget – if only for a while – the hospital, treatments, and the magic of realised dreams make their lives joyful in order to give strength to a faster recovery.

In a world filled with challenges — illness, war, inflation, and more — extending helping hands remains persistently crucial. Unfortunately, the number of ill children remains high. Families confront heightened difficulties, underscoring the demand for the compassionate psychological support our foundation provides to those in need. Even in these unfavourable circumstances our Foundation has granted 320 different wishes in 2023.

The „1% income tax” scheme provides about 20% of our funding. That is a very important part of our budget. Private persons are able to help through this means our mission of giving joy, strength and stamina to carry on and recover from their illness. We know very well that there are many problems around us, but this cannot justify not to support our mission of giving joy to the „magic lamp” children, fighting for their life…

Since 2019 this has been complemented with our ‘Healing with Magic’ rehabilitation program, based on David Copperfield’s Project Magic. We teach the in-patients magic tricks, chosen to their medical situation and supporting their medical rehabilitation process. Magic Lamp provides free of charge the necessary props and the teaching magicians in the 15 biggest paediatric clinics.

In our 1% campaign we try to contact the HR departments of companies, where the management can identify itself with our mission and recommend Csodalámpa to their colleagues. Each taxpayer individually decides on whom to support with his/her 1%, but many of them are uncertain who to support.

We prepared materials to introduce our foundation:

  1. A short film about „How to dispose of my 1%?”
  2. A poster for the common areas of your bureau (file included)
  3. A 24 page bilingual booklet, introducing Csodalámpa
  4. The form for 2023 to dispose of about one’s 1%
  5. The link to the National Tax Authority’s customer portal for online disposition:
