Dear AmCham Members,
The AmCham Board is calling for nominations for 4 Committee Chair positions to lead the following committees:
- Education & Innovation Committee (formerly the Governance and Transparency Committee)
- HR Committee
- Regulatory Committee
- Tax Committee
AmCham's 10 Committees and Working Groups, each led by a Chairperson or Lead, form one of the core pillars of our Chamber’s work through their advocacy, knowledge and best-practice sharing activities.
In line with our Board election process and our core values of transparency and consistency, the Committee Chair position is for a two-year term, with the option of a one-time two-year extension. This means the same individual may serve as Chair for up to four consecutive years.
This year marks the end of the second term for all four Chairs. In line with the election rules, they are not eligible to reapply this year and will pass the Committee Chair role on to new leaders.
We would like to extend our sincere appreciation to the outgoing Committee Chairs for their dedicated service and leadership: László Czirják (Governance & Transparency Committee), Dr. Róbert Dobay (HR Committee), Dr. Gábor Orosz (Regulatory Committee) and Károly Radnai (Tax Committee).
We warmly encourage all eligible members to apply, helping to ensure the continued success and impact of our Committees!
Elected Committee Chairs will have the pivotal role of leading the experts of their respective Committees, serving as strategic voices of the AmCham business community, and contributing to impactful initiatives that shape policy, strengthen networks and address current trends.
A few words about the involved Committees:
Education & Innovation Committee
Formerly known as the Governance and Transparency Committee, the group was established to promote transparency and effective governance practices while also engaging the next generation of leaders and their mentors. Over time, its focus has increasingly shifted toward education and innovation, recognizing the vital role these areas play in long-term competitiveness. Reflecting this evolution and the growing relevance of these fields, the Committee will continue its work under this new name, focusing on topics such as education-business cooperation, innovation, and the development of a strong R&D ecosystem.
HR Committee
The HR Committee brings together corporate and non-corporate professionals to share knowledge, explore global HR trends, and address practical challenges in the field. It places a strong emphasis on talent management, training and development, and the promotion of workplace wellbeing. Regular meetings, best practice sharing, and interactive workshops help members gain fresh perspectives and apply new ideas in their own organizations. Additionally, the Committee provides valuable input to AmCham’s Policy Agenda and Recommendation Packages, addressing, among other topics, current labor market challenges and the importance of education and training to prepare the future workforce.
Tax Committee
The Tax Committee aims to improve Hungary’s tax environment by identifying necessary legislative changes and representing AmCham members’ interests in consultations with policymakers. It brings members together to share insights, stay informed, and address tax-related challenges. Several of the Committee’s proposals were included in the Cooperation for a More Competitive and Sustainable Hungary 2024–2025 recommendation package and shared with decision-makers. The Committee also advocates for the negotiation of a new U.S.–Hungary Double Tax Treaty, emphasizing its importance in attracting investment and promoting bilateral trade.
Regulatory Committee
The Regulatory Committee supports AmCham’s Board and fellow committees by providing legal expertise and serving as a workshop for experienced attorneys and member company representatives. It issues professionally grounded, constructive proposals on legislative matters and operates through specialized legal working groups. Through Strategic Partnership Agreements with the Ministry of Justice and the Ministry of EU Affairs, the Committee ensures that members stay informed on regulatory developments and can actively contribute to the legislative process in Hungary and beyond
