On Wednesday, June 10, AmCham hosted a seminar with Bence Jendruszak, Co-Founder and COO of SEON, on the company's journey from startup to global fraud-prevention leader.
Jendruszak opened with SEON’s founding story and focus. While building a cryptocurrency exchange, he and co-founder Tamás Kádár faced relentless fraud attacks that threatened their business, which led to them finding out that existing anti-fraud tools were too slow and complex to protect growth without hurting user experience. That challenge led them to build their own platform instead, one designed to be agile, transparent, and data-rich, with the mission of making fraud prevention accessible to businesses of any size.
He then walked participants through SEON's rapid scale-up, from a five-person startup founded in Budapest in 2017 to a global team of over 350 people just eight years later, now spanning offices in Budapest, London, Austin, Singapore, and Jakarta. Jendruszak pointed to the key milestones, from landing its first major clients to opening offices across continent, and the strategic decisions that allowed SEON to grow from a local startup into a platform protecting more than 5,000 businesses worldwide.
A central part of the session focused on the lessons learned throughout SEON's journey with venture capital, with Jendruszak offering a candid, practical perspective on raising funding, scaling a team under investor expectations, and balancing fast growth with the discipline needed to build a sustainable global business.
Many thanks to Bence Jendruszak for sharing SEON's journey and insights with our members.
