Artificial intelligence is everywhere from everyday, general use to business applications, including boardroom discussions. To better understand how Hungarian companies are adapting to this shift, AmCham Hungary launched the AI Readiness and Maturity Survey.
Conducted between June and September 2025, the survey offers a snapshot of AI use among AmCham members and, given the diversity and economic relevance of the community, provides broader insight into the state of AI maturity across the Hungarian business landscape.
Based on the survey results, AI is widely recognized as a strategic priority, with respondents rating its importance at 4.2 out of 5. Yet most companies remain in the pilot or early-use phase. Current applications mainly focus on internal efficiency, automation, and productivity gains, while revenue-generating use cases are still limited.
Generative AI dominates current use, reflecting global trends and serving as a natural entry point due to its accessibility and fast, visible results. However, scaling beyond experimentation remains challenging.
The survey shows that progress is less constrained by technology than by organizational readiness including the necessary skills. This points out that by investing in skills, data capabilities, clear ownership, and regulatory readiness, companies can significantly accelerate their AI journey. Additionally, the findings highlight that, as AI is fundamentally data-driven, therefore developing a stable digital infrastructure and integrated data ecosystems are essential for moving beyond pilot projects.
Governance also plays a critical role. Rather than a future compliance task, clear accountability and risk frameworks increasingly act as enablers of scale.
Finally, companies emphasize the need for practical, experience-based learning, including best practice sharing and peer exchange. This highlights AmCham’s role as a neutral platform supporting collaboration across sectors.
Overall, the survey suggests that Hungary is entering a decisive phase of AI adoption. Progress will depend on moving from experimentation to integration, backed by leadership commitment, skills development, strong digital foundations, and governance embedded from the outset.

Building on the insights of the Survey, AmCham Hungary is launching a second phase, to further explore the challenges and opportunities of AI adoption building on focus group discussions. This deeper understanding will help shape AmCham’s future activities and events, ensuring they reflect the needs and interests of the membership. Members joining the discussions will also have the opportunity to better understand the potential of AI in practice.
