ExxonMobil Hungary - Ágnes Zoller, Public and Government Affairs Manager HU & CZ

1.Why do you think membership in the American Chamber of Commerce is important for businesses operating in Hungary?

Membership in AmCham Hungary is highly important for businesses operating in Hungary. As one of the country’s most influential and respected chambers, AmCham provides an excellent platform for advocacy, dialogue with policymakers, and the exchange of best practices. Its strong business community enables members to support one another, address local challenges and cooperate through committees focused on specific policy and business areas. ExxonMobil has been a long-standing Patron member, and I strongly believe in continuing and deepening this cooperation.

2. What motivates you to be an AmCham Board Member?

I am motivated to become an AmCham Board member because I would like to contribute more directly to the Chamber’s success and to the value it creates for its members. I am particularly interested in helping shape AmCham’s strategic direction, advocacy priorities, annual plans and budget, while safeguarding a clear focus on its mission and long-term objectives. These responsibilities closely reflect my current portfolio as Public and Government Affairs Manager, where for more than seven years I have established objectives, developed action plans and built stakeholder cooperation to deliver them. I understand that Board membership is an active commitment, and I am prepared to dedicate the necessary time to Board meetings, events, committees and working groups.

3. Why do you feel you are qualified? What skills do you bring to the position?

My 19-year career at ExxonMobil combines broad business experience with more than seven years of advocacy and public policy responsibility in Hungary and the Czech Republic. I work closely with the company’s Hungarian and Czech leadership and maintain strong relationships with policymakers, business organizations and other stakeholders, complemented by European and transatlantic Government Affairs networks. I can also connect AmCham with ExxonMobil experts in areas such as AI and digitalization, taxation, HR, sustainability and regulation, including international speakers and contributors.
I lead with openness, authenticity and trust, and I believe that strong outcomes are achieved by bringing diverse perspectives together around shared goals. Resilience, curiosity and initiative help me approach challenges constructively, while integrity and accountability guide how I build lasting relationships. I would bring these qualities to Board discussions, act as an active ambassador for AmCham, support member retention and growth, and use my professional network to strengthen the Chamber’s community.

4. How have you been active in AmCham over the course of the last two years?

Over the past two years, I have actively participated in AmCham’s flagship events, business forums and policy programs, including as a speaker. As a Sustainability Committee member, I contributed to work on chemical recycling and ran for the Committee’s leadership position. I have cooperated closely with the Regulatory Committee on topics including immigration law and CSRD, supporting white papers and position papers. I have helped develop sponsorships, brought speakers to Business Meets Government and other major events, hosted AmCham events at our office, and re-engaged colleagues in the Digital Committee. I also initiated an AI event featuring a US expert and a senior IT leader as moderator.
As a Board member, I would contribute my experience, networks and constructive perspective to AmCham’s strategic leadership, advocacy and membership development. My aim would be to connect people and expertise, strengthen relationships and help AmCham deliver meaningful, long-term impact for Hungary’s business community.
