The aim of the Committee meeting is to provide a strategic forum for AmCham Hungary members and stakeholders to address the upcoming EU Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR) and its implications for businesses operating in Hungary.
The focus will be on the transition from a linear packaging model to a circular economy, driven by new EU requirements on recyclability, reuse, and waste reduction. A key theme is the business impact of PPWR: companies in Hungary will face increasing challenges such as eco-modulated EPR fees, stricter design requirements, enhanced reporting obligations, and supply chain transparency needs.
At the same time, this transformation creates opportunities for cost optimization, innovation in product and packaging design, and strengthened competitiveness through circular business models. The session will explore how companies can proactively adapt to these changes, align with evolving Hungarian EPR frameworks, and position themselves as leaders in the circular economy transition.
