Speakers
Dr. Márta Görög, Minister of Justice
Dr. Márta Görög is a lawyer and university professor who served as Dean of the Faculty of Law at the University of Szeged from 2019 to 2026. From 2017 to 2026, she served as President of the Csongrád-Csanád County Organization of the Hungarian Lawyers’ Association. Following her appointment as a minister, she continues to be a member of the Csongrád-Csanád County organization. She is a former Chair of the Accreditation College of the Hungarian Accreditation Committee and a member of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences’ Committee on Legal and Political Sciences. Throughout her academic and teaching career, she has become a recognized expert in civil law, the application of law, and the development of higher education. She has served on several Hungarian professional bodies and academic committees. Her work focuses on legal certainty, modern legal regulation, and strengthening the institutions of the rule of law. As Minister, one of her key priorities is restoring the professional quality of legislation and ensuring greater transparency in the legislative process, with substantive professional and public consultation preceding the adoption of legislation. One of her most important responsibilities is to ensure that independent oversight institutions and authorities operate on a professional basis and free from political influence. She is also tasked with creating the legal conditions necessary to facilitate the release and transfer of EU funds allocated to Hungary.
