Ambassador David Pressman
Ambassador David Pressman was sworn in as U.S. Ambassador to Hungary on August 8, 2022.
Ambassador Pressman previously served as the United States Ambassador to the United Nations for Special Political Affairs. At the United Nations, Ambassador Pressman represented the United States on the United Nations Security Council and led U.S. negotiations on a range of threats to international peace and security, with a particular focus on issues involving Europe, Russia, East Asia and the Pacific, and Africa.
Earlier, Ambassador Pressman served as Assistant Secretary of Homeland Security, leading the Office of Policy Development where he was responsible for formulating and advancing policy initiatives on a range of complex homeland and national security issues.? Ambassador Pressman previously served at the White House as Director for War Crimes and Atrocities on the National Security Council, and at the Department of State as an aide to Secretary of State Madeleine K. Albright.?
A prominent international human rights and national security lawyer, Ambassador Pressman has led multiple non-profit organizations committed to advancing international human rights, and has represented victims of terrorism, hostages held overseas, and dissidents targeted by authoritarian regimes. In private practice, Ambassador Pressman served on the Management Committee of one of the United States’ largest law firms and chaired its international practice group.
Ambassador Pressman received his Bachelor’s degree from Brown University and graduated magna cum laude and Order of the Coif from New York University School of Law.
