Almost every culture in the world has held celebrations of thanks for a plentiful harvest. The American Thanksgiving holiday began as a feast of thanksgiving in the early days of the American colonies almost four hundred years ago. Thanksgiving is a time for tradition and sharing. Even if they live far away, family members gather for a reunion at the house of an older relative. All give thanks together for the good things that they have. In this spirit of sharing, civic groups and charitable organizations offer a traditional meal to those in need, particularly the homeless. On most tables throughout the United States, foods eaten at the first thanksgiving have become traditional.

ABOUT THE AMCHAM FOUNDATION
The mission of The AmCham Foundation (ACF) is to help children in need of social, mental or physical support, to provide transparent and ethical charity services for donor corporations and to promote corporate social responsibility and the ethos of volunteerism in the Hungarian business culture.
ACF seeks to continue its “Code Theatre” program in 2019, expanding it to include head teacher classes for children homes. The AmCham Foundation launched its ACF Code Theater program with the purpose of teaching safe internet and IT usage to children living in a state and foster care in Hungary. The program discusses the power of new tech, trends, digital skills, cyberbullying and addiction while moving the kids out of their comfort zones and encouraging them to work together. At Code Theater, we encourage the kids to become an integral part of the play and use technology by providing them the opportunity to influence the story.
Moreover, we consider talent development as the main strategic goal of the Foundation, so more emphasis is put on the promotion of the Rajki Zsuzsa Award.

ABOUT SOS GYERMEKFALVAK MAGYARORSZÁG
In Hungary our fundation has a highly relevant position in child protection since 1983.
SOS Children's Villages has provided quality alternative care in a family environment for 70 years. We always put the needs, the individual development, and the best interest of each child at the centre of our work to care for children.
A woman and man has 9 months to prepare for becoming a parent. At their birth, the babies usually have a bed, warm linen, fine cloth, toys and a lots of love surrounding them.
In case of foster parents, all this preparation has to be done within a couple of hours time. When the baby gets into the SOS, they have nothing, only with what the police is bringing them to us.
They have no pijamas, underwear, towel, toothbrush, and many other basic things, they would need. 50.000 HUF per child could cover the cost of this, so that the child, who has been just separated from their parent, could at least feel confortable with us.
Please visit https://www.sos.hu/ for more information.
