Motivation
Why do you think membership in the American Chamber of Commerce is important for businesses operating in Hungary?
AmCham is the leading advocacy Chamber in Hungary. It is respected to and listened to by the government. Although advocacy in the current environment is extremely challenging, being a member of AmCham provides the best possible opportunity for companies to engage in a meaningful way with the government. Interacting through a chamber rather than individually in many cases is much more successful and the government has openly stated it is more willing to interact and listen to collective views than individual ones in terms of policy.
What motivates you to be an AmCham Board Member?
I have been a Board Member for two years. I was an active participant in meetings, pre work, follow ups, AmCham activities. I believe I have contributed to a more successful and better operating Board and would like to continue this work.
Why do you feel you are qualified? What skills do you bring to the position?
I have served on the Deloitte Central Europe Board and Chaired it for many years, so have a good understanding of how a Board should operate and governance best practices in general. I have and will continue to bring this experience to AmCham. I listen carefully, ask questions, challenge and then support execution.
How have you been active in AmCham over the course of the last two years?
I have, attended almost all Board meetings maybe with 1 or 2 exceptions, many events and was active in preparing for and following up after Board meetings. I had an active role in formulating the policy agenda as well as some other activities e.g. follow up with non active members. I have regular communication with many Board members, the CEO as well as AmCham staff.
