DLA Piper - Dr. Dávid Kőhegyi, Partner
1.Why do you think membership in the American Chamber of Commerce is important for businesses operating in Hungary?
I am a big fan of AmCham. And after 12 years as an active participant in its work, I say that from experience.
AmCham Hungary was born in 1989, when Hungary was opening a new chapter. Today, in a very different but equally challenging environment, its mission is more important than ever: to connect business with decision-makers, people with ideas, and ideas with action.
Its strength lies in its remarkable diversity, from global companies to SMEs and individuals, and in the opportunities it creates to meet, debate, learn and advocate for a more competitive and sustainable Hungary.
AmCham has given me lasting friendships, valuable professional relationships and, above all, a much broader horizon.
That is why membership matters. And that is why after all these years I remain such a fan.
2. What motivates you to be an AmCham Board Member?
AmCham has enormous potential. I would like to help unlock more of it.
I am more than ever motivated by the opportunity to turn AmCham’s influence into tangible impact: championing better education, a more predictable business environment, innovation, digitalisation and AI, all priorities reflected in the new 2026–2030 Policy Agenda.
But there is another opportunity I care deeply about: re-energising US–Hungarian business relations. In turbulent times, AmCham should be more than a forum for dialogue. It can be a bridge-builder, connector and catalyst for new business relationships and investment.
After more than twelve years with AmCham, I would love to help it aim higher, connect more and make an even greater difference.
3. Why do you feel you are qualified? What skills do you bring to the position?
I am a US- and Hungarian-qualified lawyer whose professional journey has taken him through leading universities, the United Nations in New York, a Magic Circle firm and 17 years at DLA Piper.
Working at the intersection of business, law, government and international affairs has given me a distinctive perspective on the regulatory, governance and geopolitical challenges companies face in Hungary and the region.
I would bring that perspective to the Board, together with strategic judgment, international experience, a strong network and a genuine enthusiasm for connecting people and building bridges.
4. How have you been active in AmCham over the course of the last two years?
My 12+ years with AmCham have had more active and quieter chapters, but the relationship has endured.
In my more active years, I served as Second Vice President, contributed to policy work, organized seven compliance conferences and helped bring debates on US-Hungarian relations and foreign policy into the AmCham community.
One initiative I continue to particularly enjoy is the Board Simulation, taking the boardroom into universities and giving future leaders a hands-on taste of good governance and transparency.
After a quieter period, I am ready for a new and much more active chapter.
