Ákos Janza - Masterplast Modulhouse, Managing Director
1.Why do you think membership in the American Chamber of Commerce is important for businesses operating in Hungary?
AmCham gives businesses a powerful collective voice in shaping Hungary’s business environment and long-term competitiveness. Companies across sectors face many of the same challenges: we need predictable rules, skilled people and an environment that supports innovation. AmCham brings our experience together and turns it into practical recommendations for policymakers. One of the biggest benefits is the opportunity to learn from one another and build trusted relationships. For me, that combination of advocacy, knowledge sharing and connections makes membership valuable.
2. What motivates you to be an AmCham Board Member?
I am seeking reelection as President because I want to deliver on the work we have started together. Our Policy Agenda 2026–2030 sets a clear direction. The next term is about turning those priorities into practical results for our members.
I want more members to take an active role, see their input reflected in our priorities and follow the progress we make. My focus is on constructive dialogue with the new government and our international partners, stronger member engagement, and practical support for businesses adapting to AI and economic change.
For me, being President means being available, listening and taking responsibility for moving our shared priorities forward. I remain committed to a Chamber that serves companies of every size.
3. Why do you feel you are qualified? What skills do you bring to the position?
I bring more than 25 years of international business experience and a track record of turning strategy into results. At MSCI, I held global leadership roles across technology, operations and enterprise transformation, leading teams across cultures, scaling operations and putting AI into practice. My current roles at Masterplast and Masterplast Modulhouse bring the perspective of a Hungarian industrial business.
Having served as AmCham’s First Vice President and President, I understand how the Chamber works and how to bring different interests together around shared priorities. I combine strategic thinking with hands-on execution and strong relationships across business, academia and public institutions.
4. How have you been active in AmCham over the course of the last two years?
Since my election in December 2024, I have worked closely with the Board, CEO and members to shape our Policy Agenda 2026–2030. I also supported the launch of three Working Groups: Digital; Education and Innovation; and Travel, Tourism and Entertainment.
I helped shape Digital Impact Day and contributed to consultations on Hungary’s AI strategy and business–university cooperation. I have represented AmCham at Business Meets Government and other policy forums, engaged with the U.S. Embassy, and encouraged companies to join through personal outreach. I have also met with the Prime Minister and ministers of the new government to represent AmCham members’ interests and bring their business priorities directly into these discussions.
Building on the U.S. Financial Institutions Working Group I co-founded, I have also contributed to the financial ecosystem initiative connecting industry, technology, universities and HIPA. Throughout my presidency, I have stayed closely involved in AmCham’s events and discussions, bringing members and decision-makers together to move our shared priorities forward.
