About the event:

AmCham launched its first conference on Digitalization in 2018 with local and international experts with the aim to discuss digital trends, the most pressing challenges, potential competitive edges and how all of these impacts the business community in Hungary. In 2019, we shift our attention to one of the most exciting scitentific developments of our time, ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE

On April 16, the Digital Conference returns to examine how AI affects our lives on a day to day basis and influences the future of your business today.

Future of Work: Impact on Employment and Workplace – presented by Dr. Ildikó Taksz, Lead Partner, Financial Services, KPMG

Dr. Ildikó Taksz is the Lead Partner in KPMG’s Financial Services practice, which offers services such as customer relationship management, organizational and operational redesign, business process audit and reengineering. Her division also provides support in the setting up of shared service centres as well as to projects that interpret and implement various regulatory frameworks. Ildikó graduated from Oxford University with a Ph.D. Throughout her career she has been involved with business administration and banking, starting as a consultant at Mckinsey & Co and later spending 14 years at OTP Bank in various positions, one helping to transform OTP in Russia into a highly profitable operation.

How AI Enables Self-learning Systems – presented by Sebastian Klöser, DXC Technology Company

Sebastian Klöser is a solution principal with a strong focus on Data Science within the German analytics build team at DXC Technology. Sebastian’s main areas of interest are new applications of modern Machine Learning algorithms in various business scenarios. He is leading a team of researchers to develop industry applications for Deep Reinforcement Learning.

AI and the Power of Data in Practice – presented by Ferenc Pongrácz, GM - Innovation, Tungsram Group

Ferenc is responsible for discovering new business opportunities, partnerships and build emerging new product and service lines for Tungsram Group to support the growth strategy of the company and enable the transformation of Tungsram into a world class, innovation driven, lighting and technology company with extended and continuously improving offering portfolio.Ferenc is member of the board and President of Information Technology Section of the Hungarian Economist Association a high prestige organization with more than 5500 members.Ferenc is just about to complete his PHD studies at the Doctoral School of Regional- and Economic Sciences of Széchenyi István University. His field of research is innovation ecosystems, Smart Cities and digital innovation, social impacts of Industry 4.0.

A Platform Economy – A New Digital Business Model (*) – Dóra Petrányi, CEE Managing Director, Head of Technology, Media, Telecoms, CMS Law Office

Seven largest companies by market capitalisation are platform providers. Five in the US and two in China. Does Europe have a chance to catch-up? If digitisation continues at its current pace only 8 % of the companies will be able to maintain their business models. Are platforms the ultimate solutions?

Dóra Petrányi is a partner and CEE Managing Director at CMS. She heads the Technology, Media, Telecommunications practice and is the head of the CEE privacy initiative. Her major clients are TMT and pharma companies, foreign-owned commercial banks, and major joint ventures. Areas of specialisation include competition law, IP law, public procurement matters, general commercial contracts, corporate restructuring and M&A. Dóra is a regular speaker at key international conferences, including the Mobile World Congress or ECTA and has recently been a speaker at World Economic Forum 2019 in Davos.

(*) A platform economy is key in digitalisation: an internet and, in particular, a collaboration platform between consumers and service providers / producers (e.g.: Amazon, Uber, Facebook, Google, etc.). This platform brings together economic and social activities and serves as a matchmaker for consumers and providers/producers. Platform economy and AI walks hand in hand as large volume of data and machine learning are inevitable in this ecosystem. For instance Uber tends to match travellers with cars and able to predict demand and therefore optimize supply. 

Digital Disruption in Banking – presented by Sebastian Kucharek, TTS Head for Central Eastern Europe at Citi

Sebastian is responsible for driving Citi’s TTS business across the region by delivering solutions including cash management, trade finance and trade services to multinationals and local companies. Sebastian joined Citi over 20 years ago and has experience in operations, product and business management. Prior to his current role, Sebastian was the TTS Head for Citi Romania for 6 years. Sebastian’s previous experience includes product management, project development and leading product activities as well as managing a spectrum of client centric initiatives across different customer segments. After joining Citi in 1997 Sebastian was responsible for projects related to the merger of Citi and Bank Handlowy in Warsaw in 2001. Sebastian holds Masters degree of University of Life Science in Warsaw.

Machine Learning – A New Approach to Software – presented by Dávid Lányi, Head of Deep Learning Methods & Balázs Lóránd, Head of Deep Learning Data and Infrastructure Group at Continental Automotive Hungary

David is head of machine learning methods at Continental's Budapest Deep Learning Competence Center. He spent 6 years at IBM Research and 2 years at ETH Zurich focusing on deep learning research and applications. He is now leading a group of engineers who enable new generations of automated and autonomous driving systems with the help of machine learning.
Balázs Lóránd PhD is currently the head of Deep Learning Data and Infrastructure Group of the Machine Learning Competence Center of Continental’s Advanced Driver Assistance Systems business unit. In this position he is focusing on building up a compute cluster for providing compute capacity globally for algorithm developers. In his previous roles he was responsible for projects and teams establishing complex solutions in the field of data science / engineering – enabling the creation of business value out of the huge amount of data of several different organisations from the telecommunications, financial services, manufacturing and public sector.

Workshop II.:The Power of Platform Economy, Cyber, Privacy & Software Law

CMS is glad to invite you to its workshop in a form of revolving stage, whereby we will have small interactive talks about:

  • Platform economy – continuing with a discussion following plenary and how this new digital model would change the world

  • AI in software development and whether programmers will disappear?

Artificial intelligence will improve, accelerate, and disrupt the software development life cycle, AI is already able to automate debugging, code generation, testing. Will programmers/software developers disappear? Who will be the author of an AI created software code? What are the legal risks and challenges? Who will be responsible for the decisions made by AI in the software development? Several exciting questions which are worth discussing. 

  • Cybersecurity knows no borders and breaches cost millions

After corruption and drugs, cyber crime is the third biggest organised criminal industry worldwide. The urgent need for comprehensive and effective cybersecurity is uniform in every country. CMS recently surveyed respondents from across CEE to examine how businesses are responding to assorted cyber threat. In the workshop, we will discuss the levels of risk awareness and planning, and where ultimate responsibility lies within disparate organisations.

  • Privacy in the workplace

Privacy is re-shaping how we relate to our data and how others relate to them. The new European data protection reform has a particular impact on workplaces and current HR trends, bringing forward a line of important questions. How employers may perform background checks? Can a software hire a new colleague? How deep can the employer look into the employees’ Internet activity and how can it access their business contacts? We explore all these challenges in our upcoming workshop”.

Workshop III.: Cyber Threat Landscape - technical aspects

On the workshop we will first review the Key Cyber Security trends and Threat Actor Profiles in light of the recent events, followed by how Citi is leveraging its global Innovation Labs to explore and develop new security solutions to keep ahead of the threats. Finally, after a live demo of Spear Phishing, we will discuss the opportunities for additional measues on Prevention, Detection and Response for a Cyber Attack.

Workshop IV.: People in Digital Transformation

People are essential during and after the transformation.
