Second strategic meeting held between AmCham and State Secretary László György, Ministry for Innovation and Technology

On 13th of February, AmCham EC Members, Policy Task Force (PTF) Leads and Board representatives of the four PTFs had a closed-door discussion with László György, State Secretary for Economic Planning and Regulation, and his expert colleagues, at the AmCham office.

Regular meetings between AmCham and the Ministry for Innovation and Technology are organized to provide opportunity for progressive and structured consultation about key advocacy issues.

At the meeting, AmCham president Dr. Farkas Bársony officially handed over AmCham’s recommendation package titled „Cooperation for a more competitive Hungary 2019” to the State Secretary, who is appointed as AmCham’s key government contact by Minister for Innovation and Technology László Palkovics. State Secretary László György presented an overview of the Ministry’s industry strategies then explained and gave insight on several future Ministry projects. He also highlighted those areas which can be especially relevant for the business community represented by AmCham.

President Bársony and the PTF Leads had the opportunity to present the 16 points that are incorporated in the fourth AmCham package, targeting to improve the competitiveness of Hungary. The recommendations relate to four key areas, these are: general business climate, competitive labour marker and education, innovation and R&D, and digitalization.

As for next steps, participants agreed that the State Secretary and his expert team will thoroughly review the AmCham document and follow-up discussions will be organized about those topics that are most relevant for both the Ministry and AmCham.
