Why do you think membership in the American Chamber of Commerce is important for businesses operating in Hungary?

American Chamber of Commerce represents majority of the large multinationals in Hungary and much of the relevant local companies too. Throughout its extensive business and political network, Amcham very successfully influences the policymaking in favour of the membership businesses and the Hungarian industry in general.
Its well-established governance not only ensures that important business topics are selected for discussion but decision-making happens with sound pre work and detailed supporting material at hand, which reflects the harmonised view of the member companies.

What motivates you to be an AmCham Board Member/Supervisory Board Member?

Amcham not only acts in favour of the member companies but also influences the future of the Hungarian economy and thus helps the long-term economic competitiveness of the nation. I not only mange a company of 2,500 but I am also a father of 4. Therefore it is of paramount importance to me that Hungary becomes a place where youngsters go through world class education, can make use of their talent and live a prosperous and happy life. As a board member of Amcham I will have the chance to contribute to transforming our country to a better place on the short- as well as the long run for our industry an well as for our children.

Why do you feel you are qualified? What skills do you bring to the position of Board Member/Supervisory Board?

Back in the mid-nineties, I started as consultant with one of the Big Four consultancy firms. I worked in three major multinational companies and gained experience in the field of telecom, IT and business.
I am a transformational leader with a strategic mindset and visionary thinking. I enjoy solving complex problems and I am good at working in and motivating small as well as large teams.
Throughout my career, I proved that I am good at managing stakeholders on various level, aligning conflicting views and working hard to turn a vision into reality.

How have you been active in AmCham over the course of the last two years?

BT is one of the patron members of Amcham. We as a company were active supporting the various forums and helping Amcham operate. I am part of the Digital Policy Task Force. This year I kicked off an initiative to improve the branding of the shared services industry. I believe that our industry throughout its high value add can help Hungary to improve its economic performance and we can create an alternative to high school and university graduates leaving the country. This workgroup runs under the Investment Policy Task Force.
