Ministry of Justice and AmCham renew their Strategic Partnership Agreement
- January 23, 2019
The Agreement – which had been originally signed in 2011 and renewed in 2014 – was signed by Minister Dr. László Trócsányi and AmCham President Dr. Farkas Bársony on Tuesday, January 22, 2019, with the purpose of assuring the continuous open and professional dialogue in the preparation of legislations between the Ministry and Chamber.
AmCham – celebrating its 30th anniversary this year – believes that the key to Hungary’s competitiveness is cooperation through structured dialogue as an integrated part of the legislative work. The effective cooperation from AmCham’s part is based on the serious professional work carried out in AmCham’s Regulatory Committee, led by Dr. Gábor Orosz, with lawyers, legal counsels and business professionals renowned both nationally and internationally.
In the past years, AmCham, representing its members’ interest, regularly consulted with the Ministry on different pieces of legislation within the framework of the 2011 Agreement. Furthermore, the Chamber has submitted several professional opinions to legislators on issues that determine the operation of different actors in the economy and directly affect the country's competitiveness, such as the Civil Code, GDPR, the Bankruptcy Act, the Code of Administrative Procedure and the Labor Code.
Minister Trócsányi highlighted the importance of cooperation between the Ministry and AmCham and emphasized that the purpose of the new Agreement is to ensure that the market players’ interest is considered in the legislative activities of the Ministry of Justice, and thus to provide the most appropriate legislation. The Ministry of Justice is confident in that the extensive expertise represented by the members of AmCham can help to improve the quality and efficiency aspects of legislation, contributing to maintaining high-quality legislation.
