Former AmCham President Péter Kraft honored with the Hungarian Order of Merit, Officer's Cross

Dr. Kraft received the prestigious recognition for his work to preserve the identity of Hungarians living in the South American diaspora, for his outstanding contributions to the development of domestic tourism and his efforts to strengthen the reputation of Hungary internationally.

Dr. Kraft served as the President of the AmCham Hungary between 1996 and 1997. In addition, he was a Deputy State Secretary of the former Ministry of Economy between 1999 and 200 and was one of the instrumental figures behind the tourism development program of the original Széchenyi Plan. Dr. Kraft was also a founder and long-term chief executive of the Hungarian subsidiary of American Express.
