Regulatory Committee gives input to modified sectoral legislation related to GDPR
- March 05, 2019
In January, AmCham was also invited to a series of inter-ministerial expert level meetings organized by the Ministry of Justice. AmCham was represented by committee topic leaders Dr. Ádám Liber (Baker McKenzie) and Dr. László Pók (Magyar Telekom) who had the opportunity to present and discuss the business arguments with Ministries in charge of the specific sectoral legislation.
As a result of the dialogue, several AmCham recommendations were incorporated into the draft package of GDPR related modifications in sectoral legislation, that was submitted to the Parliament on 7th of February. AmCham’s proposals were aiming at the formation of a data protection legal environment contributing to the competitiveness of Hungary and at the same time, providing adequate level of protection to data subjects. The recommendations included proposals, among others, regarding the processing of employees’ biometric data and personal data relating to criminal convictions and offences and the processing of personal data concerning health. The Regulatory Committee is committed to continue consultations about future legislative modifications needed in other fields of law to support the sound implementation process of the GDPR.
AmCham would like to thank topic leads and committee members for their expertise and valuable contribution to the project!
