More than 120 volunteers, employees of AmCham member companies (Avis Budget Group, Exxon BSC, Lexmark Hungary, NCR Hungary, Tata Consultancy, Urmet), students from BME Kéttannyelvű Gimnázium, and social workers of the two childrens’ institutes spent their day to improve the environment where the disadvantaged children are fostered and educated.
Edit Bencsik, Trustee of the AmCham Foundation stated that: “For 28 years, the ACF has regularly supported children’s institutes with such volunteering actions. Our goal is to spread the notion of volunteering among companies in Hungary, and to raise everyday awareness for the concept of sustainability. I was happy to see that today, my co-workers joined me and my family in this effort.”
“For many years we have attended the “Day to Make it Happen” program”. As I see it, my colleagues and I are happy to volunteer for an event where we can experience (both individually and as a team) just how good it is to help a community. Our company, Lexmark, is committed to such activities, and we find it very important to use such opportunities to spread the case for a common and liveable and future” – said Bálázs Somogyi, who arrived at Cseppkő Gyermekotthoni Központ with his family and colleagues.
The AmCham Foundation has a long history of volunteering Chamber members for charity work during the Spring and Fall. Last year nearly 250 volunteers assisted institutes for disadvantaged children with over 2000 work hours.
