Record 6 million HUF raised for children in need at Thanksgiving Charity Dinner

Roasted turkey, pumpkin pie, dancing feet, shattered records and another unforgettable evening at the annual Thanksgiving Charity Dinner.

AmCham members pushed the boundaries once again. We partnered with Budapest Marriott Hotel to host our traditional Thanksgiving Charity Dinner to support the SOS Children's Villages and AmCham Foundation in their noble cause to help children in need. The AmCham community answered the call for action raising an astonishing 6 million HUF, 1.4 million more than the previous record set last year.

More than 80 prices offered by our amazing donors including two tickets to Chicago by LOT Polish Airlines, three night weekend stay for two in a Club Room at The Ritz-Carlton, Budapest, two charter flight tickets to a selected destination in Greece in the summer of 2019 by Neckermann and a barrel of Grand Selection Superior Egri Cabernet Sauvignon wine by Varsányi Pincészet.

Our hosts, Éva Barabás, SOS Children's Villages Ambassador and William Benkő, former AmCham President opened the evening by talking about the essence of Thanksgiving and the importance of using our privileges to help the less fortunate. After the a glimpse into the foundations' work and missions, the spectacular Varidance dance company took the stage to surprise the guest with an unbelieveable performance while the mouthwatering Thanksgiving turkeys were being carved up and the mixers of TGI Fridays made a wide variety of delicious cocktails.

Kids had a wonderful time as well playing with the volunteers of the SOS Children's Villages and posing at the 3D photo corner but the highlight of their evening was surely the arrival of Santa Claus whose bag was full of gifts and suprises.

We would like to express our sincere gratitude and appreciation to all our wonderful partners and sponsors for making this event a night for the ages.
