Status report on AmCham Foreign Language Initiative

The American Chamber of Commerce has launched its Foreign Language Learning Initiative in February this year. We already reached 31 schools on 160 lessons with the help of 101 volunteer Language Ambassadors from our member companies. This way we could personally deliver the message of the importance of learning foreign languages to some 3200 high school students.
49 member companies has delegated Volunteer Language Ambassadors. 5 of them have delegated more than 10 volunteers.

About the Project
The American Chamber of Commerce (AmCham), with the support of the Ministry of National Resources has launched the AmCham Language Learning Initiative to promote the importance of foreign language learning.
The mission of AmCham is to promote the global competitiveness of Hungary. We believe that competency in foreign languages is a vital element in improving Hungary’s standing. The younger generation, especially, can play a crucial role in this development if, besides formal education and work experience, they can speak at least one foreign language at a high level.
AmCham recognizes that by personally delivering this message to high school students, we can help promote and encourage foreign language learning. To that end we are seeking dynamic young volunteers from our member companies. The ideal volunteers are those who love their job, can speak about it enthusiastically, and who are comfortable sharing their personal story with high school students whose future may also be shaped by this message.
You can find the description of the project under the related documents and also a sign-up sheet which needs to be filled out by the delegated colleague to help us coordinate the projects between the Language Ambassadors and the participating schools.
